Dr. Shidin Balakrishnan

 
Dr. Shidin Balakrishnan graduated from Weill Cornell Medicine as a Doctor of Medicine (MD). He completed a research internship at the Qatar Robotic Surgery Center in the Qatar Science and Technology Park where he worked on surgical-simulation projects. He presently works as a Clinical Research Associate at the Department of Surgery at HMC.

At HMC, Dr. Shidin has participated in multiple nationally- and corporately-awarded surgical translational research projects to build technology systems that help surgical practitioners perform cognitive tasks more intuitively. Dr. Shidin is passionate about surgico-technological research, which bring about innovation in existing surgical workflow with the aid of cutting-edge technology.  His research-focus is to help develop innovative surgical tools and techniques to augment healthcare offered to the populations by improving and upgrading the mode of delivery. His research has resulted in 10+ conference/journal publications and patent filings, and R&D output.  Dr. Shidin was awarded the “Globe of Excellence” Certificate in 2017 by the CEO of HMC in recognition of a display of excellence in his role as Research Focal Point for Surgery.
